The page is laid out the way a herbarium sheet is laid out: one specimen, centred, lit flat, with the smallest caption that still says what you are looking at. The leaf carries the whole image, so the only thing left to compare is a rolled oolong against a pressed clump of ripe pu'er. Type stays quiet: a hairline rule, tracked caps, one mono line for class, origin and archive number. The ground is cream rather than white, because dark leaf reads warmer against it. Repetition is the point; thirty-four teas shot under one rule become a record instead of a set of adverts.
